“The threats we face today require impactful solutions, not ones that may just be enacted to make us feel better. Legislation very similar to today’s Senate bill was already considered and sidelined earlier this year when it encountered broad and substantial opposition,” said Steve DelBianco, executive director of NetChoice.
“This bill discards Constitutional protections by forcing the disclosure of personal communications without a warrant and undermines the 1986 Electronic Communications Privacy Act. It will discourage online services from scanning messages, photos, and videos, so they won’t have knowledge of potentially suspicious words and images. We can do better.”
