Today, NetChoice sent a letter signed by eight free market groups asking Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) not to schedule a vote on the EARN IT Act.
The letter’s signatories are:
- Center for Freedom and Prosperity
- Competitive Enterprise Institute
- FreedomWorks
- National Taxpayers Union Foundation
- NetChoice
- Taxpayers Protection Alliance
- Tea Party Nation
- Young Voices
“The EARN IT Act remains flawed and controversial. Scheduling a vote, especially one that tries to sneak the bill through with minimized scrutiny, undermines the hard work many in Congress are doing to look at Section 230 thoughtfully,” said Carl Szabo, Vice President and General Counsel at NetChoice.
“Cross-ideological agreement is rare in the modern age, yet conservatives, progressives, and moderates are united by concerns about the EARN IT Act. If he schedules a vote close to recess, Leader McConnell will risk the Senate passing a bill that hurts, not helps, America’s children.”
