Steve delBianco painted a worst case scenario in which — probably in ten years from now — governments could overtake the Domain Name System (DNS). He argued that a situation could emerge where a majority of GAC members advice ICANN to block the adding of new gTLD files to or to delete existing (ccTLD) files from the root and the ICANN Board would do this.
