Carl Szabo, vice president and general counsel at the tech lobbying group NetChoice who also serves on a task force with the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council, told Republicans on Wednesday he is also concerned that tech companies are silencing conservative voices. But he said he believes the bill infringes on private business rights.
“I understand that there’s a feeling that there’s a lot of efforts to stifle conservative speech,” he said. “But forcing these platforms, forcing these private businesses to host content that they don’t think is best for their users and their advertising is not the right approach.”
