Today an important bill that would help Internet safety is set to be heard on the House Floor in Louisiana. Sponsored by Sen. A.G. Crowe, SB 500 institutes a number of good approaches, including the teaching of Internet safety in school beginning in third grade, requiring ISPs to offer information to parents about monitoring, filtering and blocking software, and enhancing parole supervision of the Internet use of convicted sex offenders. NetChoice has been working hard to help promote the legislation, which is based on model legislation developed by AOL, IAC, Microsoft, NewsCorp, and Yahoo! Let’s hope it passes!
