More media convergence

Reuters reports that media giant NBC Universal has quietly made a minor acquisition that may play an important role in the evolution of its business down the road. NBC has quietly bought Rmail, a two-year-old firm that specializes in converting RSS feeds to e-mail, for a mere $150,000.


The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), and others are carrying an AP story about Verisign’s new disposable password technology for credit and ATM cards. One-time passwords haven’t caught on partly because to use them you have to carry a small device that generates passwords on the fly. Building the technology right into the cards you already carry should make it more practical and popular.
