One result from the change is that criminals will get more of a chance to dupe you online by spoofing real websites.
“Fraud using the domain system happens every day. With new domains coming out, there will be more opportunities for criminals to work their mischief,” DelBianco stated.
But he thinks some of the new domain names will actually help you.
“Some of these domains will make consumers feel safer. We might learn to trust domain names like dot bank or dot lawyer,” DelBianco said.
