The latest from Lisbon

The big story at this week’s ICANN meeting in Lisbon is the ongoing debate over authorization of the .XXX top level domain.  Fox News and Computerworld, among others, are reporting that a vote on the proposal will come this Friday.

Meanwhile, Larry Seltzer at hopes that discussions at the Lisbon meeting will lead ICANN to reform the way it handles domain registrars and registries in the wake of the Registerfly decertification scandal.

Also regarding the big business of domain names, Zetetic has announced that domain name resale passed the $100 million mark in 2006, with 17,974 transactions grossing $111,376,000.
