In May, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law S.B. 7072 — a first-of-its-kind law that regulates the way digital platforms moderate content.
At the bill’s signing ceremony, Florida’s Lieutenant Gov. Jeanette Nuñez applauded the law for “taking back the virtual public square” from “the leftist media and big corporations” that allegedly “contrive, manipulate, and censor if you voice views that run contrary to their radical leftist narrative.”[1]
DeSantis added that the law will penalize platforms that “discriminate in favor of the dominant Silicon Valley ideology.”[2]
