NetChoice Applauds the Introduction of Sen. Lee’s “One Agency Act”

Today, NetChoice applauded the introduction of the “One Agency Act” by Senator Lee (UT-R), which would consolidate antitrust enforcement in one federal agency, the Department of Justice. The current approach splits authority between the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

“This bill is a step in the right direction to make antitrust enforcement more efficient and more consistent. While improvements can be made, this act would help ensure both that one agency is in control and that antitrust experts can better use federal resources to create meaningful debates,” said Carl Szabo, Vice President and General Counsel at NetChoice.

“Rather than maintaining the constant back-and-forth tensions on antitrust between the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice, this act helps the Federal Trade Commission to focus its attention on consumer protection and Department of Justice to focus entirely on antitrust enforcement,” continued Szabo.
