NetChoice Criticizes Rep. Cicilline’s Merger and Acquisition Moratorium

Covered in: Law360

Today, NetChoice raised concerns about Chairman Cicilline’s (D-RI) proposal to put a moratorium on American businesses from pursuing any mergers or acquisitions during the COVID-19 crisis.

“During times of economic crisis, mergers and acquisitions are necessary tools to save jobs, businesses, and investments in innovation,” said Steve DelBianco, President of NetChoice. “If enacted Chairman Cicilline’s proposal would leave small businesses with no choice but to fire their employees and declare bankruptcy.”

“Rep. Cicilline is more focused on his outdated antitrust agenda, something he also pushed for during strong economic growth, than protecting American jobs.”
