The trade group NetChoice, which counts Google and Facebook among its members, said that the bill would do little to protect consumers.
“Data portability will inevitably endanger data security,”
said Carl Szabo, general counsel at NetChoice.
“Online hackers and criminals looking to steal consumer data will benefit.”
