NetChoice Commends Oral Arguments Against HB 732 in Chamber of Commerce v. Franchot

Today, NetChoice commended the efforts against HB 732 in the oral arguments in Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America et al v. Franchot— a lawsuit against Maryland’s Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax.

“Maryland’s attack against online advertising still faces multiple constitutional hurdles and takes a discriminatory approach that should be overturned by the courts,” said Carl Szabo, Vice President and General Counsel at NetChoice. “Hopefully the court recognizes the legal flaws of this law, even if the Maryland legislature is willing to wave them away.”

“Especially when this law will affect conduct outside Maryland, we hope the United States District Court for the District of Maryland will overturn the legislation before it burdens Americans and small businesses everywhere,” continued Szabo.
