Today, NetChoice supported Twitter’s lawsuit against the Texas Attorney General’s office. The lawsuit focuses on First Amendment concerns brought up by Texas Attorney General Paxton’s new investigation into Twitter’s banning of former President Donald Trump.
“Attorneys General should not use government power to control or punish speech they dislike. We cannot let the overreach of powerful government officials become the biggest threat to Americans’ free speech,” said Carl Szabo, Vice President and General Counsel for NetChoice.
“None of us should stand by and watch our officials fight against America’s founding values and the First Amendment. In order to protect Americans’ civil liberties, we need to ensure that our constitutional protections remain protected online and offline,” continued Szabo.
