NetChoice submitted testimony against SB 63, a bill targeted at social media platforms that would actually impose a digital age gate across a wide swath of the Internet beyond traditional social media.
Courts have already repeatedly ruled that such age verification requirements for access to services like social media are unconstitutional.
In addition, this bill’s definition of social media is so broad it would sweep up common services like email and Google Docs, requiring prospective users to upload an ID to create accounts for such services.
