NetChoice asked the Senate State Affairs Committee to oppose SB 2420, which would require app stores to verify users’ ages and obtain parental consent for minors’ downloads and purchases, while creating civil liability for app stores and developers who violate these requirements.
If enacted, this bill would almost certainly violate Texans’ First Amendment rights, weaken their privacy, and fail to keep kids safe.
