WASHINGTON—Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the growing fantasy sports market in America. The stakes are especially high for consumers and competition, since market leaders DraftKings and FanDuel face increased scrutiny over alleged anti-competitive practices, explained in a letter from Sens. Mike Lee and Peter Welch.
“Daily fantasy sports are growing in popularity in America, and new businesses are trying to break into this market. However, DraftKings and FanDuel, the leading incumbents in this market, may be working together to undermine their new competitors, which would ultimately harm consumers,” said Steve DelBianco, NetChoice President & CEO. “There’s some true irony in this, considering that DraftKings and FanDuel got their start by disrupting a market previously held by larger incumbents. The deck may seem stacked, but the U.S. Senate can help ensure that DraftKings and FanDuel deal a hand that puts consumers first.”
