NetChoice Applauds House Judiciary Efforts to Stop the Government’s “Censorship Industrial Complex”

WASHINGTON—Today, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to uncover the “Censorship Industrial Complex” that operated under the Biden Administration and how to move forward.

It is good to see Chairman Jim Jordan prioritizing this issue to ensure Americans’ First Amendment rights are upheld by government officials who take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution.

“NetChoice applauds Chairman Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee’s focus on stopping government censorship that flourished under the Biden administration,” said Amy Bos, NetChoice Director of State and Federal Affairs. “President Trump made an excellent first step forward to stop federal censorship on his first day in office. But Congress must urgently act, too. The House should swiftly introduce legislation similar to Sen. Rand Paul’s Free Speech Protection Act. Such a measure would ensure federal officials cannot coerce companies to suppress constitutionally-protected speech, solidifying key protections for Americans and sending a clear message that such violations will not be tolerated, no matter who occupies the White House.”

The Free Speech Protection Act is a crucial step to protect Americans’ First Amendment rights, and NetChoice urges Chairman Jordan and his colleagues to take up a version of this bill in the House of Representatives after this important hearing.
