NetChoice Encourages House Judiciary to Approve Bill Eliminating Waste, Streamlining Enforcement & Saving Taxpayer Resources in Antitrust

WASHINGTON—The U.S. House Judiciary Committee is set to vote this afternoon on a package that includes a provision to eliminate waste and streamline enforcement efforts in federal antitrust, saving taxpayer resources and centralizing the actions of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Justice Department (DOJ). NetChoice encourages the Committee to approve the important measure.

Under the proposal, enforcement would be housed under the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, which would assume, “all FTC antitrust actions, all FTC antitrust employees, all FTC antitrust assets, and all FTC antitrust funding to the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice.”

“NetChoice supports this commonsense reform to eliminate duplicative antitrust enforcement, and we call on the House Judiciary Committee to approve it. We commend Chairman Jim Jordan and Antitrust Subcommittee Chair Scott Fitzgerald for advancing this proposal. Consolidating antitrust authority under the DOJ will streamline investigations, save taxpayer dollars and ensure greater accountability in how American antitrust laws are enforced,” said Amy Bos, NetChoice Director of State & Federal Affairs.
