Senate Hearing to Strengthen American AI Innovation to Win the Global Tech Race

WASHINGTON—This morning, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on “Winning the AI Race: Strengthening U.S. Capabilities in Computing and Innovation.”

America’s leadership in artificial intelligence development is not just critical for our economic advantage but is a cornerstone of U.S. national security and global influence. As AI continues to transform industries from healthcare to finance, maintaining U.S. dominance ensures that American values—like free expression, privacy rights and free markets—are embedded in the technology shaping the future.

“For the U.S. to maintain its edge, Congress has the opportunity to create a pro-innovation environment—one that empowers American businesses to lead, not follow, in the race for global AI dominance,” said Amy Bos, NetChoice Director of State & Federal Affairs. “NetChoice applauds Chairman Cruz and the Senate Commerce Committee for making America’s AI success a top priority.”

Bos continued: “Innovation thrives when regulation is clear, consistent and not overbearing. Overreaching government rules threaten to stifle AI’s transformative potential, giving an advantage to global competitors. Instead of mirroring Europe’s heavy-handed regulatory approach, America should focus on fostering vibrant entrepreneurialism and creation that protects consumer privacy, rewards innovation and accelerates development.
