A website popular with thousands of law students is the target of a defamation suit that experts say will test the anonymity of the Internet. AudoAdmit, a site widely used by law students for information on law schools and firms, has also become known as a venue for racist and sexist remarks and career-damaging rumors. After facing lewd comments and threats posted on the site, two women at Yale Law School have filed a suit in U.S. District Court that includes subpoenas for 28 anonymous AudoAdmit users.
Egypt’s decision to jail a blogger has caused international outrage, with several human rights groups calling for the UN to abandon plans to hold the 2009 Internet Governance Forum in Egypt. Abdel Kareem Soliman, was sentenced to four years in prison for insulting Islam by calling Al-Azhar University "the university of terrorism" and referring to Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak as a dictator.
