Meta’s aggressive enforcement metrics from the past year are telling. In 2025 alone, the company removed over 159 million scam ads globally, with an overwhelming 92% taken down proactively before a single user reported them. Furthermore, Meta dismantled 10.9 million accounts associated with criminal scam centers and partnered with global law enforcement to disable over 150,000 accounts tied to sophisticated syndicates in Southeast Asia, organizations that were responsible for impersonating law enforcement officials and coercing victims into paying fictitious fines. To add another layer of security, Meta is also significantly expanding its advertiser verification program, ensuring that verified advertisers will drive 90% of ad revenue by the end of 2026.
Early tests of the new advanced AI enforcement systems show that they can now find and mitigate 5,000 scam attempts per day that human review teams had previously missed, and catch 2x more violating adult sexual solicitation content than review teams. Furthermore, it has helped reduce user reports of the most impersonated celebrities by over 80% and can detect subtle account takeovers by noticing suspicious combinations of events, like a sudden login from a new location paired with a password change and profile edits, that might look harmless in isolation.
This proactive approach shows how market incentives and competition truly work to benefit consumers. Companies are driven to root out fraud to protect their brand and their customers, or they will lose them.
