NetChoice Announces Robert Winterton as Vice President of Public Affairs

WASHINGTON—Today, NetChoice President & CEO Steve DelBianco is pleased to announce that Robert Winterton will be promoted to serve as Vice President of Public Affairs. After 7 years with NetChoice, Winterton has been key to the organization’s growth and reach, and NetChoice is proud to elevate him to senior leadership.

“I’m happy to promote Robert Winterton to the role of Vice President of Public Affairs at NetChoice. He joined us 7 years ago, and right away, he created our first Public Affairs department. Winterton has dramatically transformed the organization’s communications and external relations capabilities,” said DelBianco. “As a key member of the team from a time when we were only three people, his fingerprints can be found all over the organization’s expansion. At NetChoice, Winterton has thrived, and we’re proud to have him fighting for free expression and free enterprise online in this new role.”

As the Director of Public Affairs, Winterton worked tirelessly to ensure NetChoice is the leading technology trade association to face modern challenges and protect free expression and free enterprise online. In his new capacity as VP, Winterton will work to continue his efforts to expand NetChoice’s audience, reach, and team.

Before joining NetChoice, Winterton worked as the Digital Marketing & Outreach Manager at TechFreedom, a tech policy think tank. Working on issues such as Section 230, FISA, net neutrality and the peer-to-peer economy, Winterton focused on analyzing ways to better understand how these issues were perceived by the public with message testing and paid advertising providing key insights. Winterton also worked on coalitions with several state and federal focused organizations to strategize how best to protect innovation from overregulation and anti-tech interests. He is deeply interested in working to curb populist demands that undermine technology’s positive impact on human wellbeing and prosperity. Winterton obtained his degree in International Politics from King’s College, University of London focusing on political theory, philosophy, and international relations.
