NetChoice Cheers Bipartisan Lift-Off for American Satellite Dominance

WASHINGTON—Yesterday, U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Senator Peter Welch (D-Vermont) introduced a new, bipartisan bill that directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to remove regulatory burdens so that more Americans can receive high speed, reliable internet services, called the Satellite and Telecommunications Streamlining Act.

“American satellite companies need the government to get out of the way to deliver high speed, reliable internet services to more Americans across every part of the country, and NetChoice applauds Chairman Cruz’s and Sen. Welch’s bipartisan leadership on this important issue,” said Zach Lilly, NetChoice Director of Government Affairs. “This comes at an especially important time, as foreign regulators seek to unfairly disadvantage American space companies. Additionally, this bill helps deliver on President Trump’s goal of American space dominance, and it enhances the important work at the FCC already underway to roll back red tape. We encourage Congress to swiftly advance it.
