NetChoice is hiring an Economic Policy Manager that will be responsible for conducting quantitative analysis and communicating economic principles to support NetChoice’s advocacy goals. This role involves researching the economic impact of technology policies, translating complex analysis into clear and persuasive public-facing materials, and representing NetChoice in public forums. The ideal candidate will be a skilled analyst and a strong communicator, capable of shaping policy debates through data-driven insights and compelling arguments. This role has an estimated annual salary range of $100,000 to $160,000 and comes with employer-sponsored healthcare benefits.
This position is based in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct rigorous economic research and quantitative analysis on the impact of government policies affecting the technology sector.
- Author and publish research papers, policy briefs, opinion editorials, and blog posts that effectively communicate economic findings to policymakers, the media, and the public.
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations for conferences, briefings, and public speaking engagements to articulate NetChoice’s economic positions.
- Collaborate with the policy and communications teams to ensure economic analysis is integrated into NetChoice’s broader advocacy and messaging strategies.
- Brief NetChoice staff and members on the economic implications of legislative and regulatory developments.
- Serve as a resource for member companies, providing timely responses and data-driven insights on economic policy issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
- 2-5 years of professional experience in economic consulting, policy analysis, government or academic research.
- Alignment with NetChoice’s guiding principles of protecting free enterprise and free expression.
Skills:
- Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative analysis and working with economic data.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to write opinion editorials and other public-facing documents for executive audiences.
- Experience with public speaking and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
- Must be supportive of free market principles and have a strong interest in the intersection of technology, policy, and business.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Economics.
- Experience working in a trade association, public affairs firm, or policy nonprofit.
- Familiarity with the regulatory and economic landscape for internet and technology companies.
- Proficiency with statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python.
- A portfolio of published work, including op-eds, blog posts, or academic articles.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy.
