NetChoice Applauds President Trump’s Pro-Innovation Executive Orders to Secure America’s Quantum Future

WASHINGTON—Yesterday, President Donald Trump signed two historic executive orders aimed at accelerating American leadership in quantum technology and defending federal infrastructure against future quantum-enabled cyber threats. The directives establish an ambitious national effort to field a scientifically relevant quantum computer by 2028 while modernizing federal cybersecurity standards.

“President Trump’s proactive, pro-innovation approach to quantum technology is a major victory for American competitiveness,” said Patrick Hedger, Director of Policy. “By focusing on federal modernization, workforce development and robust public-private partnerships rather than big government regulation, these Executive Orders set the stage for U.S. technological dominance in the next frontier of innovation.”

Hedger continued: “While securing federal infrastructure is vital, the Administration should continue to avoid regulatory overreach. These security protocols should remain limited to government procurement and foreign threats, ensuring they don’t become a backdoor to regulate private sector innovation.”

Virtually all computers have been based on the same underlying binary code, ones and zeros. Quantum unshackles computation from this limitation, making it potentially the most powerful innovation in computers since their invention. America cannot afford to miss out on something of this magnitude.
