NetChoice signed on to a coalition letter that was sent to House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Guthrie, Ranking Member Pallone, Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Chairman Bilirakis, and Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Ranking Member Schakowsky opposing Rep. Cammack’s App Store Freedom Act (ASFA). The proposal would introduce significant cybersecurity vulnerabilities and undermine user privacy, which far outweigh the alleged benefits to competition that supporters claim will flow from forcing app stores to provide access to third-party apps and app stores. The effect would be most pronounced for youth.
