NetChoice Letter Urging Gov. Pillen to Veto Nebraska Speech Code

NetChoice urges Governor Pillen to veto LB 504, Nebraska’s Speech Code, as it is fundamentally unconstitutional and will not protect children online.

This bill, similar to others NetChoice successfully challenged, imposes unconstitutional content-based restrictions on speech, will result in excessive data collection, and will almost certainly fail in court.

Instead, Nebraska should embrace better, effective solutions like digital literacy education, updating child abuse laws for AI, and empowering law enforcement, which offer meaningful protections without stampeding constitutional rights.
