WASHINGTON—Yesterday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department to root out regulations that stifle competition, create barriers to free exchange and block new market entrants.
This is a crucial step toward preserving a vibrant free market where American innovation and consumer choice and welfare can thrive.
“NetChoice commends President Trump’s effort to tear down big government barriers to competition in the form of unnecessary and expensive federal regulations,” said Steve DelBianco, NetChoice President & CEO. “President Trump is right to prioritize the removal of anti-competitive red tape that stifles innovation and limits consumer choice. This directive puts agencies on notice that government may not undermine new entrants, innovators and entrepreneurs. It’s another strong step toward ushering in a Golden Age of innovation across America.”

To further assure innovators that the business landscape in the U.S. will be fair and pro-competitive going forward, President Trump and his administration should rethink progressive federal antitrust lawsuits that could rip apart some of America’s strongest innovators leading our global competitive edge with rivals like China.
